8mm 'Wide Angle' LEDs

They are extremely bright and give an even light over nearly a full half-sphere of angle. They do not have a narrow beam and are comfortable to view directly.

They do, however, get hot. If you keep to the current values stipulated, they will not get too hot to touch. If you investigate heat sinks it should be possible to give them more power and get them up to half a watt (which is what the manufacturers claim they can do).

Make sure you know about the power handling capacity of your resistor.
If you want to be safe without being accurate get 2 watt resistors.
